Victor Shoup

Research

Victor is a Researcher at Category Labs. Victor is a computer scientist whose research spans computational number theory and algebra, cryptography, and secure distributed systems (including consensus, threshold cryptography, and multi-party computation). He is the developer and maintainer of NTL (a widely used, high performance C++ library for number theory) and co-developer of HELIB (one of the first practical libraries for computation on encrypted data using fully homomorphic encryption). Prior to joining Category Labs, he held positions at Offchain Labs, DFINITY Foundation, and IBM Research. He is also Professor Emeritus at New York University, where he taught for over 20 years.
